Steps Set Up Tax Roll

Description

Define the category of the tax roll and specify the year, rates, dates, and value build to use in processing the tax roll.

Steps
  1. Select the Tax year you are creating a tax roll for. This determines the available levy value builds and the year bills are created.

  2. Enter the Tax roll description if you are creating a new tax roll.

  3. Select the tax roll Category, which determines how the tax roll data is handled in the final step of tax roll processing.

    • Estimated -Taxes are calculated based on current year estimated installment bills for estimated bills that were not paid between the first and second installment

    • Proposed - Taxes are calculated from current year rates. Like the preliminary category, tax roll data are not posted to A/R.

    • Preliminary- Taxes are calculated from prior year rates. Tax roll data is saved within Levy Management but not posted to Accounts Receivable (A/R).

    • Final - Taxes are calculated from current year rates, and charges are posted to A/R so that the taxes can be billed and collected.

  4. Select the Rate year and Rate type to use in tax calculation.

  5. Enter the Billing date and the Approved date for this tax roll.

  6. Select the Levy value build from the list. The Assessment rolls and levels used to produce the value build are displayed.

  7. Click Finish to save the tax roll and return to Maintain Tax Rolls.

    • Click Cancel to return to the Maintain Tax Rolls screen without saving changes.

Tips Tips

Preliminary and Proposed rolls can be used to create various reports and notices, such as for Truth in Taxation or Florida TRIM notices. You cannot create tax bills from these tax rolls.

After a tax roll has been posted, you can only view its settings; you cannot make any changes.
