ClosedJurisdiction Specific Information

California

  • If installment dates are retained for the tax bill transfer, the date group from the source bill is retained to the target.  The charges also remain on the installment from which they came. Only unpaid charges can be transferred, so for instance if a bill had $100.00 of taxes, and installment 1 of $50 is already paid, transferring $50 results in installment 1 being untouched, and installment 2 going down by $50.  Charges retain their Tax Authority/Fund allocation as well as their attributes, meaning, for example, that it charges are preserved against Special Assessments. The TA/Fund allocation and attributes are only retained when preserving TAG and Tax Year.

  • Temporary PIN numbers assigned and used only during the current tax year for properties split between tax years are now matched to the same parcel the next year and are reported in the CVI Import report.

Steps
  1. Select the Target Tax Year, either the source tax year, current year, or next year. Selecting next year will create estimated tax bills for the following year. If no estimated tax roll exists, the system will create one.

  2. If you have selected the current year as the target tax year, you can choose to base the Charge Allocation on the source TAG, which will create tax charges based on the tax authority fund rate structure for the source revenue object's TAG, or the current TAG, which will create charges based on the tax authority fund rate structure for the current TAG of the target revenue object.

The source TAG rate structure will be used for both the source and next tax years.

  3. Select the Installment Schedule, which will be used to determine the number of installments and dates for the new bill.

  4. Select the Reason Code to be used for both the source and target tax bill transactions.

  5. Select the Bills to print, none, target only, source only, or target and source bills.

  6. Select the Use Source Bill Dates checkbox to use the source bill date.

NOTE: This checkbox is available only when performing a Divided Bill transfer. If blank, you must define an Installment Schedule.

  7. Accept the current Schedule date or define the date/time.

  8. Click Queue Process to submit the process to the batch processing queue. The Monitor Batch Processes screen is displayed. It begins processing as soon as the queue is open after the selected start date and time. When the process is complete, you can select the process to access the tax bill files for printing or exporting on the View Batch Process Details screen.

The process will adjust the source tax bills, create target tax bills, save the tax bill transfer data, and print tax bills, if selected.

  • Click Previous to return to Select Target Revenue Objects for Transfer.

  • Click Close to end the task.

Tips Tips

This process will always create one or more new tax bills attached to the target revenue objects. The source tax bills will be reduced by the transferred amount and appropriate adjustment transactions will be created.
