Tax Sale Calendar Setup

Before a Tax Sale can be created, a Tax Sale Calendar must be set up in Configuration > Functional Calendar. The calendar is used for generation of Tax Sale Bill dates and for calculation of interest on Tax Sale Bills.

Systypes

  1. Go to Configuration > Systypes.

  2. Enter an effective date that is earlier than the first year of your Tax Sale data.

  3. Select the 'Functional Calendar Event Types' Systype Category and click New.

  4. Create three new systypes:

    • Tax Sale Interest Date 1

    • Tax Sale Interest Date 2

    • Tax Sale Interest Date 3

  5. Click Save at the top of the screen.

  6. Click Close to end the task.

Calendar Setup

Create a New Calendar
  1. Go to Configuration > Localization > Functional Calendar > View Functional Calendars.

  2. Click New. You advance to the Maintain Functional Calendars screen.

  3. Name the calendar 'Tax Sale'.

  4. Choose the Functional Area 'Tax Sale'.

  5. Select the Functional Year to the earliest year that you have Tax Sale data for.

  6. Set the Start Date to the first day and month of the Tax Sale Calendar. Example: 1/1.

  7. Select the Year Mapping to 'Start Date Year'.

  8. Enter a Name for the period. You can leave the period name as 'Default' or rename it.

  9. Click Save at the top of the screen.

Add Events
  1. Create an event for Due Date.

    • Click Add to add an Event to the Period. You advance to the Maintain Functional Calendar Events screen.

    • Enter the Name for the event: 'Due Date.'

    • Select the Event Type of 'Due Date.' Note: Due Date is a Aumentum provided event type.

    • Select the Schedule Type of 'Require Override.'

    • Click Save, then Previous. You return to the Maintain Functional Calendars screen.

  2. Create an event for Delinquent Date.

    • Click Add to add an Event to the Period. You advance to the Maintain Functional Calendar Events screen.

    • Enter the Name for the event: 'Delinquent Date.'

    • Select the Event Type of 'Delinquent Date.' Note: Delinquent Date is a Aumentum provided event type.

    • Select the Schedule Type of 'Require Override.'

    • Click Save, then Previous. You return to the Maintain Functional Calendars screen.

  3. Create an event for the First Month.

    • Click Add to add an Event to the Period. You advance to the Maintain Functional Calendar Events screen.

    • Enter the Name for the event: 'First Month.'

    • Select the Event Type of 'Tax Sale Interest Date 1.' Note: This is a systype that is user-defined. See the section on Systypes in this topic.

    • Select the Schedule Type of 'Require Override.' The date used as the override is the Start Date of the Tax Sale, as set up in Tax Sale Maintenance.

    • Click Save, then Previous. You return to the Maintain Functional Calendars screen.

  4. Create an event for the Second Month.

    • Click Add to add an Event to the Period. You advance to the Maintain Functional Calendar Events screen.

    • Enter the Name for the event: 'Second Month.'

    • Select the Event Type of 'Tax Sale Interest Date 2.'

    • Select the Schedule Type of 'Offset Event.'

    • Select the Related Event 'Tax Sale Interest Date 1.'

    • Enter the number of Days After the event. For example, '30.'

    • Click Save, then Previous. You return to the Maintain Functional Calendars screen.

  5. Create an event for the Third Month.

    • Click Add to add an Event to the Period. You advance to the Maintain Functional Calendar Events screen.

    • Enter the Name for the event: 'Third Month.'

    • Select the Event Type of 'Tax Sale Interest Date 3.'

    • Select the Schedule Type of 'Offset Event.'

    • Select the Related Event 'Tax Sale Interest Date 2.'

    • Enter the number of Days After the event. For example, 30.'

    • Click Save, then Previous. You return to the Maintain Functional Calendars screen.

  6. Click Save at the top of the screen.

Tips

Tax Sale Bill dates are created using this setup when an Item is added to a Tax Sale either manually or via the Advertising List.
