Map Tax Change Reasons
Description
The tax change reasons used in processing tax roll corrections and supplements are listed. Select a change reason to map it to various processing settings. You can also copy change reasons.
Each change reason can have only one mapping. All existing tax change reasons are listed, regardless of whether they have been mapped.
SETUP: See Levy Management, Levy Management Setup, and Tax Change Reason Mapping for any applicable prerequisites, dependencies and setup information for this task.
Steps
-
Filter the list of displayed change reasons, if necessary, by entering all or part of the Change reason name. Only the change reason codes matching your selections are listed.
-
Click Edit next to a Change reason you want to edit.
-
Define the following for each change reason:
-
Indicate the method to use when a change Increases a bill amount or Decreases a bill amount. For each type of change you can choose to update an existing bill or create a new bill with full charges. For increases, you also have the option to create a new bill with differential charges (also called a supplemental bill).
-
Indicate how corrected bills and negative bills should be Allocated.
-
-
Correction allocation options - If you choose to Update an existing bill as one of the bill methods, use this option to reallocate the charges. You can choose to allocate all charges to the first or last installment, create and allocate to a new installment, split charges among unpaid installments, or use the original allocation rules defined in Installment Schedules setup.
-
Negative bill allocation options - If a correction results in a negative bill amount, you can choose to zero out the negative bill, post the negative bill, or allocate the difference to existing bills in order from oldest to newest or in reverse order.
NOTE: The allocation rules currently do not take into account the balance paid/due of existing bills, only the actual bill amounts. -
Washoe only: Zero out option only is supported.
-
-
Indicate how transactions with this change reason will be approved in each of the Internal Tax Office Work QueueandExternal Tax Office Work Queues, either automatically or manually.
If you want to be able to review corrections with a certain change reason before processing them, set the internal tax queue to Manual approval. If there is a board of appeals which has to approve all corrections, set the external tax queue to Manual approval as well.
If there is no external approval process, set the external tax queue to Automatic approval, so that after a correction has been approved in the internal queue, it will automatically pass through the external queue and be posted to Accounts Receivable.
If a certain change reason requires no review or approval at all, set both queues to Automatic approval. -
