Redescribe by Combining Parcels (Merge)
Navigate: Records > Revenue Object Maintenance
Description
A merge combines two or more existing parcels into a single parcel. All merging parcels must belong to the same tax authority group (TAG) and must be active as of the effective date.
Merging parcels creates a new account number. Accounts are made up of Legal Parties, and for every revenue object an account is created. The account numbers are auto-generated.
The following scenarios can occur during a merge:
-
The parent survives and ownership is retained
-
The parent survives and ownership is transferred
-
The parent retires and ownership is retained
-
The parent retires and ownership is transferred
Steps

On the Maintain Revenue Objects screen, select the M - Merge from the Task drop-down list.
-
Select the Subtask.
-
Select the Source office.
-
Enter the recording information. You must at least enter the Legal date received, Document/sale date and the Document number or Book and Page before proceeding. If you do not enter the legal time received, the 12:00 AM default is used.

Click Next.
- On the Records Search for Revenue Object screen, enter or select your search criteria and click Search.
- On the Records Search Results for Revenue Object screen, select two or more items in the Search Results grid and click Next.
-
On the View Revenue Object Balances screen, view the balances of the selected revenue objects. Some jurisdictions do not process transfers or redescriptions if the revenue object has a tax balance due. Click Close to end the task, or click Next to continue.
-
On the Select the Parcel that Survives screen, select the Survive checkbox to indicate which parcel should survive the merge. Select the Use for Ownership checkbox to specify the owner of the merged parcel.
NOTE: When the TAGs match but the Primary Owner is different, you can click the Transfer ownership of parcels link to open the Parcel Verification screen and modify as needed.
- On the Verify and Complete Merge screen, review the information and make changes as needed, then click Finish.
Tips
At the conclusion of the merge task, the Records module updates the Aumentum Event tables.
If the revenue objects being merged are attached to one or more geo-entities, the merged revenue object inherits the same geo-entity attachments based on the effective date of the merge. If the effective date of the merge falls outside the begin and end attachment dates, the merged revenue object will not inherit the geo-entity attachment.
