Description
Use the Systypes task to view and update the systypes associated with the Personal Property Appraisal module. Systypes are used throughout Aumentum to define the list of choices that display in drop-down lists. An example in the Personal Property Appraisal module is PPA - Appraiser Type.
Steps

Most systypes are loaded into Aumentum during implementation. The pre-loaded systype categories and associated systypes may have already been assigned a minimum effective date of July 4, 1776.
Your changes to systypes should be dated later than the 7/4/1776 date to be certain that they are not overwritten by the system settings at the next upgrade.
IMPORTANT: Use a date of July 5, 1776 or later for the effective date.
As an example of effective dating of a systype, the following chart illustrates a series of changes to the PPA-Appraiser Type systype description for Chief Appraiser:
Effective Date |
Systype |
Short Description |
Description |
7/4/1776 |
PPA-Appraiser Type |
Chief Appraiser |
Lead Appraiser |
4/1/2007 |
PPA-Appraiser Type |
Chief Appraiser |
Head Appraiser |
4/27/2007 |
PPA-Appraiser Type |
Chief Appraiser |
Chief Appraiser |
The description that is used for the Chief Appraiser PPA-Appraiser Type systype depends on the Aumentum effective date.
-
If the date is between 7/4/1776 and 3/31/2007, the description is Lead Appraiser.
-
If the date is between 4/1/2007 and 4/26/2007, the description is Head Appraiser.
-
If the date is 4/27/2007 or greater, the description is Chief Appraiser.
Add or Edit a Systype
-
Click Change to change the effective date, if necessary, from the default of 07/05/1776. Enter the new date and click Apply.
-
Select a Systype category from the drop-down list. This identifies which Aumentum field you are updating. For example, the appraiser type field in the Personal Property Appraisal module equates to the PPA-Appraiser Type systype category. After you select the category, the systypes currently defined for that category display.
-
Click Add to add a new systype. If the Add button is not available, it means the systype is system defined and user changes are not permitted.
OR -
Enter or edit the systype:
-
Enter or edit the Short description. This is the name of the systype used throughout the system and must be unique within the systype category. Required.
-
Enter or edit the longer Description for the systype. Provide text that is brief but explanatory. Required.
-
Enter the Display order number. This number determines the order in which the systypes are listed in the drop-down list for the users.
For example, if you have the systype category Country and it includes the systypes USA, Mexico, and Canada, you would want to assign the systypes a display order that lists the most frequently used systype first. If most users are in the US, you would assign 1 to USA. If no order is specified, the systypes are listed alphabetically within their category. -
Choose the Selectable checkbox if you want the systype included in the drop-down list when the systype category displays on any screen that uses systypes. If this checkbox is not marked, the systype remains in the system but is not available for viewing or selection on any screens that use systypes.
If the systype is not required, the Deletable checkbox is marked.
NOTE: Systypes cannot actually be deleted here. See Tips below for information on removing systypes. -
Click Apply to keep your changes or Cancel to discard your changes.
-
-
Click Save at the top of the screen to save your systype.
-
Click Close to exit the task.
-
Click Edit in the grid row of the systype you want to update.
Tips
Each Aumentum module, such as Records, Cashiering, Levy, and Personal Property Appraisal, has its own set of systypes that govern the drop-down lists used in that module. This task maintains only the systypes associated with the Personal Property Appraisal module.
You can also update the Personal Property Appraisal systypes using the Configuration > Systypes menu. This menu item is used to update all Aumentum systypes for all modules.
Systypes cannot be deleted from the system entirely; instead they are set as inactive to indicate that they have been removed. Systypes are inactivated via the deployment and update procedures.
You can always change a systype display order and whether or not the systype is selectable, even if the other information is not editable. You can typically change the long description for most systypes.
You can also update the Personal Property Appraisal systypes using the Configuration > Systypes menu. If you need to update the personal property systype categories, you must use this menu item.
For more information about systypes and systype categories, see Systypes and Systype Categories.
