GIS Control – Unified Map Viewer (UMV)
Description
The Unified Map Viewer (UMV) provides for spatial representation of data across a spectrum of solutions; integrating with both legacy and current software solutions over web, desktop, and mobile platforms. Notably, UMV best enables users to locate subject properties in the context of valuation and assessment. In addition, UMV can also be used for measurement, basic spatial analysis, plotting tabular data, and for generating presentation-quality maps. Note that not all features listed in this document may be available or appropriate for your particular solution. Feel free to direct questions regarding functionality or enhancement to your Aumentum Support representative.

Administrative Settings and Debug Tools

When initialized, these features appear alongside the Home icon located in the upper-left corner of the map window. |
![]() |
Debug must be activated via Administrative Settings or at initialization. Debug tools are provided to assist support staff with troubleshooting any deployment problems that may arise. |
General Map Navigation
If you are familiar with popular consumer web map interfaces such as Google, Bing, or ArcGIS Online, you will find familiarity in the UMV interface.

The +/- interface buttons can be used to adjust map detail. Likewise, use the mouse scroll wheel to incrementally change map detail or zoom level. Pinch-to-zoom functionality is available when using a touchscreen interface. |

The UMV can be configured to select a particular feature type (such as property parcels) by default. To interactively select features, simply left click on the map with the mouse or tap on the map when using a touch interface. On the desktop, hold the Ctrl key and left-clickon your mouse to select multiple features. Click/tap on a single selected feature to display a pop-up with feature-specific information.
The Unified Map Viewer (UMV) Toolbar
UMV is a highly-configurable piece of software. It is meant to be a solution that allows for a variety of geographic data deployment situations. Depending on your particular configuration, not every tool listed in this document may be available for your use case.

Clear Selection(s) – Removes all highlighting, selection graphics, and markup from the map window. |
![]() |
Identify – After activating this feature, click on any location on the map to return information regarding all visible map features at that point. NOTE: |
![]() |
Measurement – Used to measure distance, calculate an area, or determine spatial coordinates of a location on the map. Be aware that the measurement tool is not accurate enough to replace a proper survey. |
![]() |
Selection/Buffer – Select parcels using point, line, and area selection tools with the option to include properties within a user-specified distance (i.e. buffer) from selected features. |
![]() |
Export Map – Enables the user to create a presentation-quality soft copy print of the current map view. Images can be exported by themselves (a screenshot) or framed within a custom layout. Output options include JPG, PNG, and PDF. |
![]() |
Copy Image to Clipboard – Creates an Image which uses the Export Map functionality using Quality as Good, Layout as NO LAYOUT and Format as JPG. |
![]() |
Map Layers – Your map service administrator provides the Map Layer service for the purposes of navigation and query within your supported application. The visibility of the individual layers within this service can be toggled from here. |
![]() |
Basemaps – Aerial photography and/or complex cartographies made available via a cache of image tiles. Basemap use is highly recommended for increased map viewer speed and performance. |
Tool Dialogues
Drawing Features on the Map
NOTE: These features are also used in Markup.
Measurement, Selection/Buffer and Markup tools fundamentally follow the same interface rules.
![]() |
Points are added by left-clicking/tapping on the map with the mouse. |
![]() |
Lines are initiated by left-clicking/tapping, followed by subsequent left-clicks/taps to change line direction. Finish a line by double-clicking/tapping the left mouse button with the cursor centered over the map in the desired ending position. |
![]() |
For areas (polygons), again begin with a left-click/tap. Subsequent left clicks/taps are again used to change line direction. Finish the area by left double-clicking/double tapping. If the cursor is not near the position of origin, the tool will complete the area with a straight line back to the origin. |
Measurement

|
For the Measurement tool, line and point measures are referred to as Area and Distance respectively. |
Selection/Buffer
The buffer tool allows for a creation of a secondary selection set, based on a user-defined buffered distance from a selected subject.
